  • POPULATION: 245,000
  • LANGUAGE: Japanese Sign Language
  • RELIGIOUS BACKGROUND: Buddhist
  • PROGRESS: unknown
  • BIBLE TRANSLATION: Complete

Our North American field partners have recently relocated to the most northern Japanese island to teach English. They are busy learning Japanese, Japanese Sign language and learning about their new city. People are eager to speak English to them. The deaf community is a subset of the already unreached Japanese people. They write, “The gravity of the situation began to dawn us as we drove for hours on end and in community after community we saw shrines and temples but no churches. Our house has a dozen shrines within walking distance of our house and no churches or known believers.”

Prayer Request:

  • Authentic deep relationships, especially for a person of peace
  • Language learning!
  • For God to make clear where our field partners are to settle down long term
