The Makua-Meeto live primarily on both sides of the Tanzania-Mozambique border. While there have been successful efforts to reach them in Mtwara, there are very few Makua believers in the villages where GT focuses. There has been an influx of Makua in the region fleeing the fighting in Mozambique.
One member of our team is focusing on Makua villages. There has been openness to the Gospel with a number of Makua participating in Discovery Bible Studies (DBS). Still there is resistance to following Jesus for fear of being seen as “converting to another religion.”
Prayer Request:
The violence in Mozambique has created opportunity to reach Muslim Makua and Makonde but they have pressing needs: food, shelter, safety and medical care. Pray for churches to give resources.
Pray for strength for our field partners as they share their meager resources
There are so many needs. Pray for the Holy Spirit’s leading to those who are spiritually seeking.
