  • POPULATION: 20,000 est.
  • LANGUAGE: Dari and Pashtu
  • RELIGIOUS BACKGROUND: Islam
  • PROGRESS: Over 100 believers
  • BIBLE TRANSLATION: Complete

In the 19th and early 20th Centuries, many Tajiks (a Persian speaking people group) fled the Russian conquest of their homeland and settled in Afghanistan. Following the takeover of the Taliban in 2021, some Tajik Afghans have fled to Tajikistan and other neighboring countries.

Prayer Requests:

Pray for safety and courage for believers. The Tajikistan government is randomly deporting Afghan refugees, causing fear among believers.
Believers are also experiencing persecution being instigated against them from inside Afghanistan. Many Afghan refugees need work, but there are no jobs. It is difficult to feed a family or obtain medical help. Pray for outreach efforts, open doors, and cross-border work. Pray for safety for workers.
